SOMATIC & INTEGRATIVE THERAPY

Your mind isn’t the only place you experience your life.

Our emotions aren't just tied to our thoughts. We call them feelings because we experience them as sensations in our bodies, through our nervous systems and the ways we physically experience life.

Your body isn’t separate from your thoughts and emotions, so therapy doesn’t always need to treat it as though it is.

“Somatic therapy simply gives us another source of information to work with. It does not mean every session will focus on your body.”

Explore How We Work

Sometimes We Talk, Sometimes We Work With the Body

DIALOGUE & MEANING

Sometimes We Talk

Talking can help us understand experiences, relationships, beliefs, choices, boundaries, grief, conflict, and patterns that keep repeating.

We all carry wisdom within us. Sometimes, having someone truly listen helps us give voice to what we already know, find perspective, and better understand ourselves.

SOMATIC AWARENESS

Sometimes We Work With the Body

Other times, you may understand something perfectly and still feel stuck.

We may experiment with grounding, movement, imagery, breath, or simply slowing down enough to notice your response.

SESSION FLEXIBILITY

What a Session Could Look Like

Depending on what feels supportive for you on any given day, sessions may include:

Problem Solving

Talk through a situation happening in your life, explore different perspectives, and find a way forward that feels right for you.

Gentle Movement

Explore gentle movement, yoga poses, or simple shifts in posture to help create space in areas of the body where emotions or tension may feel stuck.

Explore bodily sensations

Explore what happens in your body when we talk about a particular person or situation.

Slow down reactions

Slow down a reaction instead of immediately trying to change it.

Grounding & meditation

Try grounding, breathing, meditation, or imagery.

Recognize patterns

Notice a pattern that keeps showing up.

Explore connected beliefs

Look at the thoughts or beliefs connected to what you’re experiencing.

Practice new responses

Practice a different response and see what happens.

Talk through the week

Talk through something that happened during the week.

Simple conversation

Decide none of that is useful that day and simply talk.

YOUR AGENCY & AUTONOMY

You Belong to You

You take the lead in deciding what we explore, how we approach it, and what feels right for you.

My role is to suggest ideas, perspectives, or exercises as an invitation, not a requirement.

You can ask me why I suggest something.
You can change your mind.
You can keep your eyes open.
You can move or change position.
You can pause.
You can stop.
You can tell me something doesn’t feel helpful.
You can say no.

“Choice is part of the work.”

FIRST TIME IN THERAPY

If Therapy Is New to You

NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE NEEDED

You don't need to understand therapy before coming to see me. My job is to be your guide.

SAFE EXPLORATION

You don't need to be good at noticing your body or recognizing your thoughts. We create a space for exploration.

PERSONALIZED TOOLS

You don't need to like journaling or meditation or yoga. We will find skills that are unique to who you are.

“We start wherever you are.”
